Up in the Air: The 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest By Terence Turner
January 19th, 2010Gerald Wallace, Nate Robinson, Shannon Brown, and the “Dunk In” contenders Eric Gordon and Demar Derozan……
*yawn*
These gentleman will vie for the 2010 Slam Dunk crown during All-Star weekend. Many fans of the NBA have long decided that the Slam Dunk Contest is about as important as “For the Love of Ray J”.
In a “new”, “interesting” twist (insert sarcasm), the powers-to-be have decided to have 2 stars compete for the last spot, during the Friday night All-Star festivities. Read the rest of this entry “
Playoffs? We’re talking about Playoffs! By Terence Turner
January 7th, 2010And then there were 12….
The NFL season always seems to fly by too quickly for the Die Hard Football Fan. This year was no different. This season did not disappoint as we saw some great action on the field. If you would’ve asked me a month ago if I thought Saints vs. Colts was a lock for the Super Bowl, I would’ve said yes. But, the Saints have sinned and the Colts have slowed down a bit.
So with the 12 teams remaining, I’ve decided to breakdown my perception of the Wildcard weekend, and will tackle each round as they occur. Read the rest of this entry “
The Curious Case Of Chris Johnson By Terence Turner
December 22nd, 2009You have to acknowledge that something isn’t right. The question I want you to consider is: Why Chris Johnson isn’t being considered a legitimate Top 3 MVP candidate?
The answer is very simple: Image.
Chris Johnson has been the best back in the league this year. He has accounted for 2176 all-purpose yards and 13 TD’s. He is on pace to come very close to Dickerson’s rushing record. Read the rest of this entry “

The Weekend That Was
November 2nd, 2009With all major sports underway, this is the best time to be a sports fan. Here are some of the highs/lows (depends on who you ask) from the weekend that was.
NFL:

Brett Favre returned home to his first wife….The Green Bay Packers. Many fans booed him like a scorned woman would, but Im pretty sure they were playing Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” when the clock hit zero.
The Rams finally get one in the win column….against the Detroit Lions. The game-winning touchdown was the Rams first rushing TD of the season…I know…I wont dedicate anymore energy to this.
Ted Ginn Jr. finally played with some passion. 2 Kickoff Returns for TD, in the same quarter.
MLB

The Yankees are one game away from winning the World Series. Not a big baseball fan, but I must admit, IT’S ABOUT TIME! When you create the best roster money can buy, it should be automatic.
NBA

Early reports Monday morning have Rajon Rondo signing a 5 year extension with the Celtics. Hopefully by then Glen Davis will go from Big Baby, to Big Kid. Too bad for Rondo though. By the 3rd year of the extension, all his uncles/teammates will be sitting next to C-Webb on TNT or falling asleep next to Eric Snow on NBA TV.

Carmelo Anthony is playing with a chip on his shoulder. He is averaging 38 points over the first 3 games of the season. I think he will be a the second leading candidate in MVP voting when its all said and done. The voters have already showed their hand with Lebron. He is my choice for MVP, but as it has been proven before, its politics.
The Orlando Magic are playing some great ball. Back-to-Back Eastern Conference Champion ball.
College Football

The BCS rankings….Ehhh…I’ll pass. If either of the top 3 teams lose ( Florida, Texas, Alabama ), Do you honestly think they will let us see a Boise State vs. Cincinatti title game? Heck and No!

The Weekend That Was….
September 14th, 2009Weekends like this make life worth it!!! This weekend didn’t disappoint one bit. The NFL kicked off for real, The NBA inducted a new Hall of Fame class, and apparently the MLB Pennant race is heating up (I’m trying to be fair). I would talk about Serena, but she isnt about to nut up on me.

The NFL
The Good? Drew Brees’s six touchdowns, Adrian Peterson distancing himself from the rest of the backs in the league (along with the Browns Defense), Tony Romo throwing for 300+, The 49ers defeating the Cardinals (this win will matter down the road, trust), and Marc Sanchez’s debut
The Bad? Jake Delhomme (10 INTs in the last two games), The St. Louis Rams, The Ravens allowing Kansas City 24 points, Urlacher breaking his wrist last night (out for the season), Jason Campbell (dude, you seriously need to get it together.)
The Ugly? The way the Bengals lost the game (great catch by Stokely), The St. Louis Rams, The fight between Santana Moss and Corey Webster, and Donovan McNabb cracking a rib (God has a way of making things seem ironic doesn’t he?)

NBA Hall of Fame
The Good? The entire class. Each person in their own right earned their spot that night. Especially C. Vivian Stringer who proved to women across the world that you don’t have to be Tila Tequila in order to be of value to society.
The Bad? Michael Jordan. He went out off the court, the same way he did on court – Leaving everyone scratching their heads. His speech was garbage and basically gave the basketball world his butt to kiss. You would expect him to deliver a memorable speech. And he did. Just not the way his fans deserved.
The Ugly? This distinction goes to Michael Jordan as well. Due to the way he picked on everyone, I want all his fans to acknowledge that MJ has been kept quiet for a reason. He was able to say that night, what he hasn’t been able to say since he became the Icon that he is. I never expected him to be perfect, but a lot of his fans did. If you can’t see that Mr. Jordan lacks humility, then you are blind. Think about the next time Kobe does something that is considered selfish. Mike didn’t even acknowledge his date for the evening who he is supposedly in love with.

MLB
The Wild Card race is heating up in both the American and National League. The Red Sox beat the Rays, and San Fran is trying to make up some ground in the NL. This may be the first time I follow a pennant race closely. It should be worth it.
College Football Week 2
There were some great games this weekend. USC barely outlast Ohio State, UCLA got a piece of Tennessee, and Houston put up serious numbers against OK State. I dont want to hear anything about Tebow. They played Troy. The BSO team could suit up against Troy and win by at least 4 scores (all Field Goals).
The Weekend That Was…
September 8th, 2009For the sports world, this weekend has to go down as one of the most interesting. Here are a few matchups that made this holiday weekend memorable….

Miami Vs. Florida State
A lot of people thought that this game wouldn’t live up to the tradition of previous Sunshine state battles. Both teams are rebuilding and have a lot to prove. This game not only surpassed expectations, but will go down as one of the seasons best. The young Hurricanes went into Tallahassee ready. Sophomore Jacory Harris introduced himself to the rest of America by throwing for almost 400 yards in the 38-34. FSU true Freshman Greg Reid let us all know that Bobby Bowden can still reel in quality talent. The Seminoles fought a good fight, but couldnt close it out at the end.
Shawne Merriman vs. Tila Tequila
First of all, why was he wifing this chick anyway? How much self esteem do you have that you have to scoop up Ray J’s sloppy seconds. Yes Reggie Bush, that applies to you to. Details are coming in. Check out Robert Littal’s article from Sunday. He has the tweets she posted and everything.

Sam Bradford vs. the Ground
Heisman winner Sam Bradford suffered a shoulder injury this past Saturday. The initial prognosis is 2-4 weeks, but what does that mean for the Sooners? Who knows. They could possibly be out of BCS contention by the time they face the Miami Hurricanes in a few weeks.

The Oakland Raiders vs. The Oakland Raiders
Trading a 1st round pick for Richard Seymour? Like you aren’t going to need that pick in 2011…..Just crazy.
