Live Coverage of Mayweather vs. Mosley Weigh In 6pm Eastern

I will be live inside the MGM Grand for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley weigh-in giving you all the insider information you won’t get anywhere else, like how much jheri curl juice Shane used before the weigh-in.

You can watch it live here

For up-to-the-second analysis, just watch my Twitterfeed below @blksportsonline (will drop some twitpics as the weigh-in is happening).

UPDATE:

Floyd weighed in at 146 and Shane at 147, but looked in excellent shape. Pro Mosley crowd mainly because people dislike Floyd so much. Should be great fight.

BlackSportsOnline Live Coverage of Mayweather vs Mosley from Las Vegas

The BSO Jet (aka American Airlines) is warming and our next destination will be Las Vegas where I will be providing live coverage of the May 1st Super Fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and “Sugar” Shane Mosley.

Starting on Friday, I will have a prediction video on the fight as well as video from the weigh-in.

Saturday, I will be live tweeting (follow me) round by round coverage of the fight.

Also any other interviews, information, intel or scandals that happen while I’m there I will be sure to update you.

Of course, some things that happen in Vegas have to stay in Vegas, but I digress. Read more…

Boxer Edwin Valero Commits Suicide In Police Custody for Murder of Jennifer Viera

Yesterday we reported that boxer Edwin Valero was taken into police custody under suspicion of murdering his wife, Jennifer Viera.  Today it is being reported on ESPN.com that Valero has taken his own life:

The former lightweight champion used his own clothes to hang himself from a bar in his cell early Monday, Venezuelan Federal Police Chief Wilmer Flores told reporters.

He said Valero was found by another inmate, who alerted authorities in the police lockup in north-central Carabobo state. Valero still showed signs of life when they took him down, but they were unable to save him and he died about 1:30 a.m., Flores said. Read more…

Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins Should Do Us All a Favor and Retire

My favorite show of all time is “24” (actually it is tied with The Simpsons).  I have not missed an episode since Jack Bauer first stepped into CTU.

When news came down that they weren’t renewing the show for a 9th season, there was outrage and disbelief from loyal fans of the show.  No one wanted the show to end, ever.

If you are a “24” fan you aren’t just a causal watcher; you are emotionally connected to the show. I felt their pain and, while I shared their grief, there was something very calming to me about the impending cancellation.

I will definitely miss Jack Bauer but the last thing I wanted to see was a sixty year old Jack trying to save the United States for a 15th time.  With a conceptual show like “24″ where you have to suspend your disbelief to a degree, once it gets to the point that you are wondering to yourself if Jack should be collecting social security, it means the show has been on for too long.

I much prefer “24″ leaves a season too soon than a season too late.

This brings us to Roy Jones, Jr. and Bernard Hopkins who fought tonight with about 17 people in stands.  Two living legends fighting in one of the worst fights I have ever seen. Read more…

Bernard Hopkins Dropping Knowledge About Floyd Mayweather

Quick story about Bernard Hopkins you guys might like.  I was in the media center for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton fight last year.  There was a lot of international media there taking pictures with the boxers and some of the more well known members of the media.

They have a lot of these press releases on a table so I am just looking through them when Bernard comes up to me and asks me who I am working for because he had never seen me before (it was the first fight I had cover for BSO).

So I tell him and he immediately remembers that Oscar De La Hoya story that almost got me sued (he thought it was funny).

He asks me to look around the room and point out any other black media in the room (there wasn’t any).  He then proceeds to tell me he better not see me taking a picture with any of the boxers and to stay focus on my business.  Because I don’t just represent myself, but I represent all independent black media.

That is something I will never forget and when I saw him at the Super Bowl all he said was:

“I see you still on your job.” Read more…
