As the boss says, we’re here to tell the truth. That’s important because the knives are out for Allen Iverson, as they’ve always been, except that this time he’s finally ripe for the pickings. The media has hated him from day one, largely because they couldn’t understand him, couldn’t find a way to relate to him or his life story, and because he made it clear that he didn’t give a damn what they thought about him. And as I’ve said before, the worst thing you can do the media is act like you don’t need them. It punctures their sense of importance, their idea that they and only they can make or break stars and careers. Allen Iverson has had a bad couple of weeks (actually a bad last 12 months to be honest).
It didn’t get any better today when Stephen A. Smith wrote an article chronicling his gambling and possible alcohol abuse. His wife is divorcing him and his time in the NBA seems to have run out.

I don’t think anyone should be surprised that this information has come out. Most people are aware that Iverson has a lot of issues going on right now and alcohol and gambling has long be a concern for those close to A.I.
Stephen A. Smith who has been writing and covering Iverson for years decided to bring some of these issues to light today in a column for the Philadelphia Inquirer he says that only John Thompson can stop A.I. from this downturn.
“[Thompson] is the one guy who’ll have a chance of slowing this train wreck down, who could wrap his arms around Iverson and have an impact, because clearly it has not been done,” Chaney said, according to Smith. “But there’s still this one question: Will [Iverson] listen?” Read more…
It has been a rough twelve months for Allen Iverson.
He gets traded from a playoff team in Denver to Detroit, pouts about possibly coming off the bench and ends up sitting out the majority of the last part of the season with a “mysterious injury”.
He signs with the Memphis Grizzles, a decision that everyone thought would fail and lasts only three games after complaining about playing time and coming off the bench..
Then there was the “fake retirement” that lasted about a week.
There was the happy hometown reunion with the Philadelphia 76ers who was the only team interested in signing him. Of course that only lasted about a month before he left the team.

As most people assumed Allen Iverson won’t be returning to the Philadelphia 76ers and you just have to wonder if this is truly the end for A.I.
He lasted only three games with the Grizzlies and just over a month with the Sixers. It is hard to see any team picking him up this late in the season with all the headaches that come along with such an acquisition. Read more…
I am going to be honest I don’t know how I feel about all of this. It is a sensitive situation and while others out there are making light of it I don’t really think it is that funny.
I have no clue how sick Allen Iverson daughter is. Having a daughter myself I know if my little girl was in really bad health there is no way I would be in the mood to do anything but be by her until she got better.

Allen Iverson missed the All-Star game because of a illness to his daughter, but now the Philadelphia 76ers are considering cutting ties with A.I. all together.
