If he is sentence to any jail time during the season the Wizards have a good shot at voiding his contract.  If he skates off with just probation it is going to be hard for them to get the money back.

Gilbert Arenas has been charged with carrying a gun without a license outside of his home or business.

This is a felony and at this point we do not know if this is part of a plea deal or not, but more details will be coming shortly.

We know that Arenas’ lawyers had been working toward a plea.

The face that Arenas didn’t have a license for his guns, in the end might be his downfall.

If convicted Arenas the crime carries a maximum of five years in jail and a fine. The US Attorney had this to say:

On Dec. 21, Arenas “did carry, openly and concealed on or about his person, in a place other than his dwelling place, place of business or on other land possessed by him, a pistol, without license issued pursuant to law.”

We are getting reports that Gilbert Arenas has accepted a plea deal no one knows how severe the punishment will be. It could be very little to no jail time or something more substantial.

When Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton decided to play “Face/Off” in the Wizards’ locker room witnesses said that Crittenton threw his gun in a laundry basket and some secretly wheeled it out of the facility (you know Dateline will have a reenactment of this at some point). The cops are looking for the gun, but have been unsuccessful.

According to TMZ.com a judge has granted a search warrant for Crittenton’s home to see if they can find any guns.

Now if Crittenton was dumb enough to leave any illegal guns in his home after all this time he deserves to be suspended like Arenas too. Read more…

All jokes aside I think Arenas needs a full mental evaluation. He has always been a bit of a strange dude, but there is a big difference between being unique like Ron Artest and needed some real help.

Just the fact that he had guns in the arena and may have pulled one out of his teammate sounds like he is crying out for help.

Also the fact that the world knows that his fiancee’ was breaking lamps with Shaquille O’Neal probably doesn’t help his mental stability right now. Read more…
