If you notice I rarely call out other bloggers or writers from local newspapers/websites. The reason being we are in the opinion business and everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how much I disagree with it.
Plus I am not interested in “blogger wars” to me that is silly than Youtube rap beefs. Mainstream media that is a difference story because they need to be held accountable (see: Peter King on Ben Roethlisberger).
Normally if I don’t have anything good to say about an article, I don’t say anything.
Sometimes though you have to make an exception to the rule. When I saw this Orlando Sentinel article suggesting that the Steelers should draft Tim Tebow, at first I thought is was another story slurping the “Tebow Bathwater”, but what I read shocked me: Read more…
I will say this about Tebow, his decision making skills on the football field maybe challenged, but when it comes to picking “lady friends” he does have Montana like field vision (maybe he should talk at Tiger’s intervention).
One of his “Friends” Janell Wheeler I guess was a contestant on American Idol? (I haven’t watched since Ruben Studdard won).
She was the first to be eliminated as they pair down to the final 12 I have heard. Hopefully Tebow’s draft stock won’t suffer a similar fate. Read more…
Wassup it’s ya boy Robert Littal. I know you are getting prepared for the NFL Combine and what not, but I felt compelled to write because I think I can be of some assistance to you in your transition to the NFL and more importantly your transition to the spotlight of the NFL.
You probably are wondering to yourself:
“Self what can this guy who talks about nohos and football gods can tell me about the making it in the NFL, God bless him.”
I am going to tell you things all your “yes men/women” are scared to tell you, so I suggest you put down the bible for a second and pay close attention. Read more…
LeGarrette Blount was suspended for the majority of the season for KOing a Boise State player in the season opener, now the player who replaced him LaMichael James has been arrested as well.
Here are the details of the story from CBSSports.com Read more…
So national signing day went down this past week. This has got to be the most fraudulent, overblown, media driven farce in quite some time. It is a pure product of 24/7 media and the internet and nothing more. Thanks to Rivals.com and other websites, we now have these rankings of high school players, by position and overall. Actually we’ve had them for some time but 24-hour cable and sports talk radio in a never ending search for material have brought them to the forefront, and the focus climaxes on National Signing Day. We get live press conferences where top high school players sit at a table surrounded by hats from different colleges and then putting one on to show the whole world where they’re going to play their college ball. It is obvious that he has trouble making up his mind. First he quit, then he was taking a leave, then he wasn’t quitting at all, maybe he would be back in fall and now this.
“I’m going to have a series of tests in February to try to figure this thing out,” Meyer said. “I have to take some time off. I’ve been instructed to by my bride and my boss. I have to change some things. That’s obvious.”Read more…
I know the season’s over now, but a few things before we move on:
1. Don’t be too surprised at Pete Carroll leaving.
My general view for some time has been that the potential for long term success is always greater at the college level at the pros, and that any coach in a good college situation should stay there. If you recruit well, win enough games for your school’s tastes, and stay out of trouble, you can pretty much stay as long as you want. In the NFL, even the best coaches get burned out or get fired as soon as things go south, which they eventually do. Read more…
This isn’t unexpected since I predicted it yesterday. The AD has been trying to get rid of Leach for years and the situation with Adam James which was totally overblown was his convenient excuse. Plus they didn’t want to pay his $800,000 end of the year bonus.
I personally think Leach should sued for wrongful termination because it is obvious this is an organized plot by the university to get rid of him.
I feel sad for the kids at Texas Tech, Leach was a bit eccentric but he took that program for an also ran to respectable and then close to National Championship potential. Read more…
