I like Chris Johnson and it has nothing to do with him being the best running back in the NFL (sorry Adrian Peterson), but because he seems totally comfortable with himself.
Most athletes are “actors”.
They have to be because that is how they get their endorsements and the media off their back. The perception is rarely the reality.

I would rather deal with someone like Chris Johnson, his gold fronts and very strange outfits than someone who is just putting up a facade for the media and turns out to be a Roethlisberger. Read more…

Brady missed the 1st week of the Patriots off season workout program and by all appearances it was because he was getting in shape to fight Manny Pacquiao?
This photos were provided by FadedYouth.com, but do they look real to you? Profootballtalk posted them, so we will roll with it until someone says they are fraudulent. Read more…

Is anyone in the continental United States or Russia surprised by this?
Only Pacman Jones, who has to know he has absolutely no room for error to try to get back into the NFL would miss his own scheduled workout.
According to Nola.com Jones did not appear and no one knows why. He was supposed to work out after Tulane’s pro day, but since Tulane had nothing to do with it had no clue why he didn’t show.
Maybe he was on Bourbon Street making it rain?
Of course you would need money to make it rain and since he hasn’t been in the NFL for awhile it is unclear if he can make it rain or just make it partly cloudy. Read more…

I made fun of the Orlando Sentinel blogger who suggested that the Steelers should draft Tim Tebow in the first round as a “mentor” to Ben Roethlisberger. It wasn’t a well thought out suggestion, but one point that is worth discussion is where do you drawn the line in regards to off the field problems?
When does the headache become too much? At what point does production on the field fail to override the distraction off of it.
The question many are asking is, is Ben Roethlisberger worth the trouble? Read more…

I understand what T.O. is thinking. When Jake Delhomme and Charlie Whitehurst are getting five million plus why shouldn’t he?
When Nate Burelson, Jason Avant and Antonio Bryant are getting five million plus he should be getting at least that much?
Logically I see where he is coming from, but the reality is he is highly unlikely to get that amount of money. But according to ProFootballTalk.com that is what he is looking for.
A lot of people assume it has to do with the amount of bridges he has burned over the years in the NFL and while that is a part of it, I think a bigger reason has to do with his age. Read more…

From all accounts Tim Tebow had a much better showing at his pro day than he did at the Senior Bowl.
Which makes sense, since there was no defense trying to interrupt what he was trying to do.
I took a look at the “reconstructed” throwing motion. It does look better and his drop backs from center look a whole lot better.
I feel the same way about Pro Days as I do about the combine. They don’t replace the game film.
You know who had possibly the greatest Pro Day I have ever seen?

I can’t lie it is probably in the best interest of Roethlisberger for him not to talk. He has proven many times that he isn’t the brightest guy in the world and if allowed to speak freely he will probably incriminate himself.
With that being said everyone else has been interviewed and if he is truly innocent and doesn’t want to be charged he needs to tell investigators his side of the story.
If you have a “he said”, “she said” incident, if the only person that is talking is the victim you have to take her claim at face value. Read more…

If true this is possibly one of the best stories of all time. We originally saw the story on ProFootBallTalk.com. Here is Mike Florio version of the story:
We preface this by saying we don’t know whether it’s true. But we’ve heard it from someone with connection to multiple NFL players.
As we’ve heard it, Ben went golfing with Palmer at the Laurel Valley club in Latrobe. Ben, supposedly, was a general jerk during his round with Palmer.
So then Ben later wanted to play at Laurel Valley, and he dropped Palmer’s name in the hopes of getting in. (Or is it “on”?) Palmer eventually made a phone call to help get Ben in/on the course without Palmer there. Read more…

This is becoming one of those stories where if you interview twenty different people you are going to get twenty different stories of what happened.
The latest is from Thomas Freeman a 19-year-old freshman at Georgia College & State University. According to Fanhouse here is his account of what was going on before the alleged sexual assault took place.
“His bodyguards were back there guarding the door to the bathroom,” said Freeman, “I don’t know exactly what was going on.” Read more…

Ed Garland told the Associated Press that hiring a private investigator, even in a case where the person hasn’t been charged is “standard procedure”.
It maybe standard, but it is obvious what is going on here.
Kobe Bryant also hired a “Private Investigator” and found out his accuser had quite a few skeletons in her closet (and a few fellas as well).
What Garland and the rest of Roethlisberger’s team are looking for are things to break down his accuser’s credibility. Read more…
