I made fun of the Orlando Sentinel blogger who suggested that the Steelers should draft Tim Tebow in the first round as a “mentor” to Ben Roethlisberger. It wasn’t a well thought out suggestion, but one point that is worth discussion is where do you drawn the line in regards to off the field problems?
When does the headache become too much? At what point does production on the field fail to override the distraction off of it.
The question many are asking is, is Ben Roethlisberger worth the trouble? Read more…

I can’t lie it is probably in the best interest of Roethlisberger for him not to talk. He has proven many times that he isn’t the brightest guy in the world and if allowed to speak freely he will probably incriminate himself.
With that being said everyone else has been interviewed and if he is truly innocent and doesn’t want to be charged he needs to tell investigators his side of the story.
If you have a “he said”, “she said” incident, if the only person that is talking is the victim you have to take her claim at face value. Read more…

If true this is possibly one of the best stories of all time. We originally saw the story on ProFootBallTalk.com. Here is Mike Florio version of the story:
We preface this by saying we don’t know whether it’s true. But we’ve heard it from someone with connection to multiple NFL players.
As we’ve heard it, Ben went golfing with Palmer at the Laurel Valley club in Latrobe. Ben, supposedly, was a general jerk during his round with Palmer.
So then Ben later wanted to play at Laurel Valley, and he dropped Palmer’s name in the hopes of getting in. (Or is it “on”?) Palmer eventually made a phone call to help get Ben in/on the course without Palmer there. Read more…

This is becoming one of those stories where if you interview twenty different people you are going to get twenty different stories of what happened.
The latest is from Thomas Freeman a 19-year-old freshman at Georgia College & State University. According to Fanhouse here is his account of what was going on before the alleged sexual assault took place.
“His bodyguards were back there guarding the door to the bathroom,” said Freeman, “I don’t know exactly what was going on.” Read more…

Ed Garland told the Associated Press that hiring a private investigator, even in a case where the person hasn’t been charged is “standard procedure”.
It maybe standard, but it is obvious what is going on here.
Kobe Bryant also hired a “Private Investigator” and found out his accuser had quite a few skeletons in her closet (and a few fellas as well).
What Garland and the rest of Roethlisberger’s team are looking for are things to break down his accuser’s credibility. Read more…

The day the story broke about Ben Roethlisberger being accused of sexual assault his agent said he would be fully cooperative with the police.
Once Roethlisberger hired high price lawyer Ed Garland, Garland said that Roethlisberger was completely innocent and the evidence would bear that out.
The Milledgeville Police when they had a press conference said they expected not to have any issues interviewing Roethlisberger and getting a DNA sample from him.
Since then of course Roethlisberger has not agreed to be interviewed and he has denied a request for a DNA sample on the advice of his attorney. Read more…

Depending on who you believe either Ben Roethlisberger was a total gentleman on the night of the alleged sexual assault or he was a total dirt bag.
Either way, more and more eye witness accounts are coming out to give us a better idea of what was happening the night of the incident.
The latest if from a young woman who did not want to be identified who spoke to The Pittsburgh Channel about how Roethlisberger was acting that that night and it isn’t very flattering. Here are the details: Read more…

A picture surfaced of Ben Roethlisberger with members of the Milledgeville police department the night of the alleged sexual.
Of course you can see how this could be disturbing to the accuser because it appears from the picture and the account on USATODAY.com that the officers were fans of Roethlisberger.
There were five officers in total in the picture. Three were off duty and two were on duty. One of the officers Sergeant Jerry Blash is the one who took the compliant from the victim. Here are more details: Read more…

Our good friends (except when they are saying Mike Vick shouldn’t get an award) ProFootballTalk.com brought this story to our attention. By the way out of all the people in the media I only trust Mike Florio (besides myself) to report this Roethlisberger case straight down the middle.
Long time Steelers sports media personality John Steigerwald just started a blog today (please dear lord someone get him a web designer asap it looks awful) and he didn’t take any time before blasting Ben Roethlisberger. To be perfectly honest I am shocked by this because Pittsburgh isn’t like NYC, Dallas or Philly. The Pittsburgh media is normally very respectful for the Steelers and are not quick to criticize, but here is what Steigerwald had to say about Roethlisberger: Read more…

When the allegations against Ben Roethlisberger came out both his agent and his attorney said they would fully cooperate with the police and that there was no truth to the accuser claims.
As we reported yesterday Roethlisberger himself admits that something sexual happened between him and the accuser.
That eliminated the “she is just making this up” angle. She still could not be telling the complete truth, but something did happen.
The police have requested a DNA sample from Roethlisberger, but even though from the beginning the Roethlisberger camp have said they have nothing to hide, his attorney Ed Garland has denied the police DNA request. Read more…
