Roman Dolidze’s highly anticipated fight at UFC Austin, originally set for December 2, has been canceled, leaving fans disappointed. Dolidze, hailing from Georgia, was set to square off against Jared Cannonier at UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas. However, this exciting matchup had to be scrapped due to Cannonier’s unfortunate MCL injury.
Dolidze, known for actively seeking challenging opponents like Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, Khamzat Chimaev, and the undefeated Bo Nickal, expressed his frustration on social media. He wrote, “After my Hermansson fight, I called out Khamzat. He didn’t say anything. Costa wanted to fight in December, I called him out, and he went quiet. Whittaker is calling out the guy from 170, even Bo Nickal. I just need a good name and a good fight. I think it’s better to talk less and do more. Or just don’t talk.”
Despite Dolidze’s eagerness to face top-tier opponents, the promotion encountered difficulties in finding a suitable replacement for his bout. Consequently, the decision was made for him to withdraw from the event in Texas.
‘The Caucasian’ holds a fight record of 12 wins and two losses. His most recent fight resulted in a decision loss to Marvin Vettori at UFC 286. However, before that setback, Dolidze had an impressive four-fight winning streak, including a second-round TKO victory over Jack Hermansson.
Main Card
In the wake of Dolidze’s bout cancellation, UFC fans are eagerly awaiting the main and co-main events for UFC Austin. Dana White recently unveiled the main card for the December 2 event. The headline bout will feature Beneil Dariush facing off against Arman Tsarukyan.
Dariush’s winning streak came to an end in a bout against former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 289. With this upcoming fight, Dariush is determined to regain his winning momentum and assert his dominance in the highly competitive lightweight division.

On the other hand, Tsarukyan has been on a remarkable journey, securing victories in seven of his last eight bouts, including three impressive wins by TKO. This co-main event promises to be a thrilling clash of lightweight contenders, providing fans with an exciting evening of mixed martial arts action.
Although Roman Dolidze’s fight has been canceled, the remaining card for UFC Austin offers plenty of excitement for MMA enthusiasts, as Dariush and Tsarukyan aim to make a statement in the octagon on December 2.
