the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the finalists for its 2016 class — led by Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal.
The twelve finalists include Sheryl Swoopes, Kevin Johnson, Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan, Lefty Driesell, Muffet McGraw, Darell Garrettson, Robert Hughes, Leta Andrews, John McLendon, Eddie Sutton and the Wayland Baptist University team.
Iverson — regarded as pound-for-pound — one of the best players ever — made seven All-NBA teams — Rookie of the Year and a league MVP. He finished his career 12th in steals, 23rd in points, and has the seventh highest scoring average in league history.
The Diesel was named to 14 All-NBA teams — first team eight times while winnng Rookie of the Year — four rings with two teams — three Finals MVPs and one regular season MVP.
