Although Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams don’t appear to be seeking a divorce, trade rumors involving the elite defensive tackle haven’t abated.
Three-time Defensive Player of the Year Donald’s local team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, have been considered as a potential destination. Before the Rams selected him 13th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Donald, who was born in the Steel City, played collegiate football with the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Donald was questioned about perhaps ending his career with the Steelers when he spoke to the media prior to the Rams’ Week 7 home game against the team.
But according to Noah Strackbein of All Steelers From Sports Illustrated’s FanNation website, the future Hall of Famer quickly took down the website. Donald said
“Not really, no,” “I never thought of it. I never thought about it.”
After the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 57, Donald considered retiring, but he ultimately decided to sign a new three-year contract worth $95 million. The 32-year-old, who has 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for a loss, is still among the best defensive players in the league.
After losing to the Steelers on Sunday, the Rams’ record slipped to 3-4. The Rams are just one game away from securing the final wild card place in the NFC despite having a losing record. With a 3-3 record, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers presently occupy that position.
When the Los Angeles Rams host Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, they’ll attempt to get back to.500.
