While “Nike just lost a customer” twitter rages, Alabama’s 2019 crown jewel recruit is praising Nike’s decision to choose Colin Kaepernick as the face of their 30th anniversary “Just Do It” ad.
5-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick will be making his way to Tuscaloosa next season. With Alabama being a school wearing Nike uniforms, Quick feels more recruits will be enticed to join the Crimson Tide.
“There’s some people that might be a HUGE Colin Kaepernick supporter,” Pierce says. And so now they’re like, ‘You know what? I want to go to a school that supports Nike, because I want to go to a school that supports Colin Kaepernick.'”
Historically we have witnessed recruits gravitate to schools over uniform combinations. This comes with a new twist as the swoosh logo would be the main attraction in comparison to a color scheme.
Quick is very well spoken in his perspective on how Alabama fans and players wont be divided over Nike’s decision. As the most dominant force on the college football recruiting trail, Nick Saban will possibly have another leg up on the competition.
