Following a surprise Final Four run, the Michigan State Spartans expected to be bringing in a pretty strong freshman class and reloading for another shot at the title. Unfortunately for coach Tom Izzo and his team, it looks like one McDonalds All-American commit has changed his mind about attending MSU.
Tom Izzo has endured some difficult recruiting losses in the past couple years, but never from a verbally committed player.
Caleb Swanigan just changed that, according to Scout.com and ESPN.com — both of which reported that he has decommitted from the Spartans.
The 6-foot-8 McDonald’s All-American from Fort Wayne, Ind., committed to MSU on April 10, giving the Spartans a consensus national top-10 class of four.
Tough loss for coach Izzo, who will have to find a way to replace an All-American forward pretty quickly.
