Andrew Murray of Great Britain has finally broken free from the grips falling short to Tennis’s big 3 (Nadal, Federer and Djokovic) and has won the US Open. He came through in an epic match that lasted almost five hours and pulled through in a 7-6, 7-5,2-6, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
This is the first Grand Slam victory for the 25 year old Scot who’s coming off a Gold medal win in the London Olympics where he bested Roger Federer. After falling short in Wimbledon Murray has channeled that frustration in an absolute tour de force match against world number one Novak Djokovic. This is Murray’s 5th Grand Slam Final and much like Lebron all eyes were on him to push through and get that ‘ring’ protection. In Murray’s case he’s got a throphy to hoist up to the naysayers who try to exclude him from talks of arguably best in the world. While he’s still got a ways to go it’s safe to say that Murray is making his case for being in the discussion.
