Do you think there will be justice for Ariel Young?
I want you to think about this for a minute. Britt Reid left the Chiefs facility and drove his car into the vehicle Ariel Young was in. He was going 82 MPH at the time. He admitted on the scene to the cops he had been drinking and popping pills. Once they got his BAC levels, they were .113. In Missouri, the legal limit is .08.
Even with all this information, the cops didn’t charge him with anything for MONTHS.
Once they charged him, the case has been going slow going. Some of that has to do with COVID, but it makes you wonder if he will get off. The trial has been delayed for a second time.
A Jackson County Judge rescheduled the trial date for former Chiefs Coach, and Andy Reid’s son, Britt Reid. It was originally scheduled to begin in April.
Reid and his attorney, J.R. Hobbs, both attended Friday’s virtual hearing from Hobbs’ office. It lasted about 20-minutes. During the hearing, the judge rescheduled the hearing for September 26. The judge cited scheduling conflicts and the fact that the defense hasn’t had the opportunity to view a report by an expert witness for the prosecution.
He is accused of crashing a white Dodge Ram Laramie into two vehicles near Arrowhead Stadium in February 2021. Reid’s blood alcohol content was .113 at the time, according to court documents. Police also said Reid was driving 82 mph in a 65 mph zone leading up to the crash.
The Chiefs, for their part, have stated they will take care of Young for the rest of her life because she suffered significant brain damage and was in a coma for a long period of time.
Hopefully, she will be able to live a normal life, but no one knows if that is possible at the moment.
Britt needs to spend some time in jail, but I am worried that won’t happen.
