Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka during Kobe Bryant’s memorial service at the Staples Center revealed that Bryant and him were exchanging text messages just minutes before Bryant’s death in a helicopter crash that also killed Bryant’s daughter Gianna along with seven other people.
Pelinka and Bryant were best friends, and they discussed setting up a baseball agency internship for Alex Altobelli. Alex’s parents and sister were involved in the helicopter crash.
The baseball agent that Pelinka and Bryant were talking about getting into contact with for the internship was Scott Boras. Boras has now reached out to Alex’s older brother about setting up the internship.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Boras will create a position for Alexis.
Boras has been in contact with [Alexis’ older brother, J.J.] and will create a position for Alexis, who will be able to rotate through the company’s various departments, including marketing, baseball operations, sports science and office administration.”
Boras is looking to fulfill what Pelinka called Bryant’s “last good deed.”
