As Batkid was capturing the Riddler, his story and out pouring of love and support from strangers captured the hearts of people around the world.
Through the Make A Wish foundation, Miles Scott was able to fulfill his dream of being Batkid for a day. With the help and encouragement of an estimated 7,000 participants, including police officers and local residents, San Francisco was transformed into Gotham City for the day, where Batman and Batkid saved a woman from cable-car tracks and captured the evil Riddler as he robbed a downtown bank.
Miles, a 5-year-old from Tulelake, California, was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months, but has recently ended treatments and is remission.
His father Nick thanked everyone from the Bay area for making his son’s wish come true, as well as, the medical staff that treated him.
“All the doctors, nurses and all the other parents that have to deal with the same thing we’re going through. I hope they get a conclusion to their illnesses like we’re getting.”
With all of terrible news stories we hear, just when you begin to question your faith in humanity something like this happens to restore it again.
