The former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers has angered the Chicago Bears. Chase Claypool, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is deteriorating quickly in Chicago as the Bears are considering benching him in Week 2 following a lackluster effort in the season opener.
NFL journalists and fans from all across the country swiftly criticized Claypool for his performance against the Green Bay Packers. Even the Bears observed him “sleepwalking” because of his poor blocking skills and lack of effort.
Bears HC Matt Eberflus reacts to Chase Claypool’s horror display
Head coach of the Bears Matt Eberflus acknowledged meeting with Claypool to discuss his play when questioned about the former Steeler’s performance. Eberflus said
“You all saw the plays that … and again, the perimeter blocking needed to improve for all of us. And we’re gonna get that, work hard to get that done. We’re looking at all possibilities right now,”. “I’m not going to talk about who’s going to be up or down for the game right now for obvious reasons. We’re looking at all things to improve our team — Who’s going to be up and who will be down in terms of the active roster.”
Since joining the Bears, Claypool has drawn criticism and is currently in the middle of a contract year. Chicago allegedly had concerns about his dedication to football before into the season, and those concerns were confirmed by his performance in Week 1.
Week 2’s game between Tampa Bay and Chicago might be problematic for Claypool’s NFL future if he isn’t on the field.
