The aftermath of Bill Maher dropping the N-Bomb during his ‘Real Time’ live show has been extraordinary to say the least.
After a social media firestorm, the New York Times printed Maher’s formal apology for calling himself a “House Ni**ger” during the segment with Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska who invited him to “work in the fields” with them.
Mr. Maher said Saturday in a statement: “Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show. Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry.”
HBO, the network that airs ‘Real Time’ also condemned Maher’s use of the word.
“Bill Maher’s comment last night was completely inexcusable and tasteless. We are removing his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show.”
No word on whether or not HBO plans on taking further action against Maher.
