Kane spoke candidly about the Undertaker’s streak, telling us at Florida Supercon that he did not want to see the streak end but he also gave the possible reason why the WWE felt the streak had to end. Kane pointed out how Brock Lesnar was floundering since his return to the WWE and that the company saw him struggling and may have decided to give him the win over the Undertaker to put him back in beast-mode.
It makes sense in hindsight with how much they have built Brock since that win at last years Wrestlemania. Brock has been almost unbeatable since then, until getting beat up by Kane last week pretty easily but that’s another story. The WWE had a lot invested in Brock being a draw and they were able to build him back up to monster status with a single win. Of course the question would be if Brock is the type of guy that could have easily been built to that level without using the streak. A few dominant performances by Brock and he would have been skyrocketed back to beast-status. The WWE could have used that streak as a Wrestlemania gimmick for a few more years or given it to someone young that could have used it for the next decade or two of promos. Undertaker’s match with Bray Wyatt at this years Wrestlemania just wasn’t intriguing without the streak and seeing Undertaker just going through the motions without even the streak at stake was kind of sad. So if the WWE handed Brock the streak just because how he was floundering, they have no one to blame but themselves. Kane may have some knowledge behind the reason’s for the streak being beaten but this could also just be a guess as to the WWE’s rationale.
