A car wash in Southside Chicago recently hired an employee to help with washing cars. The car wash is located near 78th Street an Western Ave. and was where a woman named Veronica was reportedly a victim of car theft. As she went to retrieve her car as the employee was drying the car, he jumped in the car and took off.
According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, when Veronica asked for surveillance video on the premises to identify the employee, but was told the person in charge was out the country. Veronica did learn:
“They just hired him yesterday and the only thing that they had was his name and his phone number. They didn’t take any photo ID or social security card,” she said.
ABC7 Eyewitness News went to the business but staff would not speak. Chicago Police confirmed they were aware of what happened.
