There is a loaded slate of games in the SEC today, so in addition to my preview of the Ole Miss/Alabama game, I am going to briefly touch on some other intriguing showdowns in the conference plus a couple others.
#6 Texas A&M vs. #12 Mississippi
This matchup features two of the top quarterbacks in the land in Kenny Hill and Dak Prescott and I think we will see plenty of offense in Starkville. While I want to pick The Dak Attack to upset the Aggies, I have not been impressed with MSU’s secondary since watch my alma mater UAB torch them through the air. I like A&M and I think Kenny Hill has a big day.
Prediction: Texas A&M
#5 Auburn vs. #15 LSU
Les Miles picked an interesting time to break in a new starter at quarterback as they head to Jordan-Hare to take on the Tigers. While talented, Brandon Harris is just a freshmen and I see him making some rookie mistakes down on The Plains. I think Auburn’s defense forces Harris into at least two turnovers and stays undefeated.
Prediction: Auburn
Outside the SEC:
#9 Notre Dame vs. #14 Stanford
This game is going to be interesting. Everett Golson has played great so far after being suspended last year, but he faces a stiff test in Stanford’s defense. Unfortunately, Stanford’s offense is allergic to the end zone and I think Notre Dame will be able to do just enough to come up with the win.
Prediction: Notre Dame
#10 Michigan State vs. #19 Nebraska
This may be one of the best Big 10 games we see all year. Heisman candidate Ameer Abdullah against at tough Michigan State defense is something I will be watching very closely as both have a chance to make a statement. Don’t sleep on MSU’s offense though, Connor Cook has that offense clicking and is looking like a likely first round pick. I think Abdullah has a decent day, but his team comes out on the losing side of things.
Prediction: Michigan State
#4 Oklahoma vs. #25 TCU
I know some have been picking TCU to pull of the upset of Oklahoma in Fort Worth, but I’m not sure I’m buying into that just yet. While TCU is better then advertised this year, I don’t think they have the fire power to stick with Oklahoma today. I think OU wears them down with the run game and delivers the knockout blow late.
Prediction: Oklahoma
