Whenever this NFL lockout ends, (and I pray to God that it ends soon) you won’t see Chad Pennington suited up in a NFL uniform.
The 11-year pro and NFL two-time Comeback Player of the Year, who has suffered many injuries throughout his career, told the Charleston Daily Mail that he will take the year off to “get healthy and do some work for FOX Sports.”
“I’m going to evaluate things and see where I am physically.”
He’s had four shoulder injuries, a fractured hand and an ankle sprain – all suffered in games, during his 11-year NFL career. He began the 2009 season as the Dolphins’ starter in his second year in Miami, but tore his shoulder capsule in the third game of the season on Sept. 27. His 2010 season was ended on the first play of the first game when he suffered a severe shoulder injury.
“It seems like I majored in that (injury comebacks),” said Pennington, who will turn 35 years old on June 26. “I’m trying to get away from that. It seems to follow me around.”
He signed a one-year contract with Fox Sports and will be paired with Sam Rosen, the Miami Herald reported.
I like Chad, I really do. I think he is a great guy, he’s football smart and a great player. But I think he should just retire all together.
Chad is a pretty much a walking injury. He even got injured playing a pick up basketball game in March.
“(Playing basketball) was just a dumb decision,” he said.
Yeah, it was Chad.
Chad is 35 and will be 36 when he comes back to play. Every player can’t be like Brett Favre and play until they are 40.
So do your body a favor Chad and retire.
