I hope Chamique Holdsclaw has a good attorney and solid defense, or we might be talking about another fallen hero. USA Today is reporting that New York City women’s basketball legend was indicted on six counts by a Fulton (Ga.) County grand jury on Wednesday for trying to shoot her ex-girlfriend with a 9mm handgun in November.
The 35-year-old Holdsclaw, faces two counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal damage in the first degree, two counts of criminal damage in the second degree and one count of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
A warrant was issued for her arrest following that altercation with Lacy. Holdsclaw allegedly fired a pistol into a vehicle while Lacy was in it.
Holdsclaw turned herself in three days later and was released on $100,000 bond.
The 29-year-old Lacy reportedly gave Holdsclaw the keys to her vehicle while working out at an Atlanta church that day. When she left, she reported smelling gas in her vehicle.
Holdsclaw followed Lacy to a friend’s house, reports. Holdsclaw then smashed Lacy’s 2010 Range Rover with a baseball bat, breaking two windows.
Reports say she stuck a pistol in the rear driver’s side window and fired across the SUV.
Lacy, who now plays for the Tulsa Shock, was still in the vehicle when Holdsclaw fired the gun but was uninjured. Police recovered a spent 9 mm shell casing.
The former Christ The King and Tennessee Volunteer star will now fight for freedom.
