Charlamagne Tha God took to his Brilliant Idiots podcast to break down his relationship with Drake after the duo posted pictures on Instagram of them popping bottles in NYC.
The Power 105.1 personality, who in the past was popular for criticizing the Toronto rapper, suggested that although it does make sense to assume shade was being thrown at a rival, it was actually a gesture of gratitude via VLAD TV.
We all can remember last year’s beef between Meek Mill and Drake that sparked the diss track “Back to Back,” and resulted in six bottles of Dom Perignon given to The Breakfast Club radio host from Drake. Charlamagne says:
We got such short term memories that they forgot when he sent me the bottles last year, he sent it with a card that said ‘let’s be friends.’
And admits, when he heard Drake was in town for the Summer Sixteen Tour, he and his assistant jumped on the opportunity to gift the rapper with six bottles of Ace of Spades along with a note directly aimed at radio station Hot 97.
“An Enemy of my enemy is my friend” – making it quite clear which NYC radio station is on the right side of the fence with Drake.
