ESPN.com is reporting that a former Chicago attorney named Fredrick Goings has been found guilty in the murder of former NBA player Eddy Curry’s ex girlfriend and infant daughter.
Fredrick Goings reportedly showed no reaction when the jury came back with a guilty verdict Tuesday in the January 2009 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her and Curry’s 10-month-old daughter, Ava.
According to reports, Goings was the attorney for Henry in a child custody case against Curry, and was also romantically involved with her. Prosecutors say Henry tried to end her relationship with Goings and moved out with her and Curry’s two children.
Prosecutors say Goings shot Henry in her home while she was holding the then infant Ava. Curry’s son, who was then 3 years old, also was in the home but wasn’t harmed.
Curry now plays basketball in China, and reports say he wasn’t called to testify. Yolan Henry, Nova’s mother, expressed relief that the matter was closed.
“I’m feeling elated. I can breathe,” she said. “I feel justice has been served.”
Yolan Henry during her testimony, emotionally had to recount finding her young grandson, Noah, with the bodies of his sister and mother, and that he told her, “Fredrick did it.”
