Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has been causing headaches for his team and the entire league. He refuses to take the COVID-19 vaccine, and his stance has caused many supporters and many critics. One of the more unusual supporters of Irving is Donald Trump Jr., who claims he has sacrificed more than Colin Kapernick did.
Say what you want about Colin Kapernick, but to compare what he went through to what Kyrie is going through is not even remotely similar. Kapernick got blacked balled by the NFL. Kyrie just doesn’t want to take a vaccine in order to play.
Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks addressed the media Tuesday, saying that Kyrie Irving’s decision to not comply with New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and had no choice but to let him sit until he decides to comply with the cities mandates.
“Again, my job here is to make what we deem as the best decision and best choices for the organization moving ahead as a whole. They’re not always ones that are going to be met with open arms and a thumbs-up. These are hard decisions. Just like I’m sure it wasn’t easy for Kyrie either to have to make that [decision] to not be around his teammates.”
It’s more than likely we will not be seeing Irving at all this season, but with the money he’s made in the league, I’m sure Irving doesn’t care what you or I have to think. One discerning thing is how Trump Jr. is comparing what Kyrie is going through to what Kap went through with the NFL.
I am sure that Kyrie doesn’t want to have anything to do with the Trumps, but here we are because of his stance.
