Yes, you’re reading the title correctly. Somebody actually wants to play for the lonely Charlotte Bobcats. That somebody would be former Duke star Seth Curry, the little brother to Stephen Curry. Seth went undrafted in June, mostly because of his shin injury that required surgery and kept him out of the draft workouts and Summer League action.
There’s no time to be picky for the undersized two guard, but if he had a choice, he’d want the Bobcats, Curry told The Sporting News.
“It’s my home,” Curry said. “This is where I grew up. I would love to come back here and play.”
Curry has even done his research on his hometown team and he feels they could use his outside shooting.
“They have a lot of guys who can slash and create,” Curry said of the Bobcats. “They have a few shooters, guys who can not down shots consistently, but I think they need more shooters. I can fill that role and be a guard who comes off the bench and scores.”
Nobody is expecting Seth Curry to light up the NBA like his big brother did, but Stephen Curry is expressing great confidence in how his little brothers game would translate at the next level.
“Whether he gets drafted or not, a team will be making a great decision by bringing him into camp,” Stephen said. “The same questions that were brought up about my game and how it transitions to the NBA, he’s going through that same criticism. But I think the way he shoots the ball and the way he can score will be a high value for a team.”
Seth Curry averaged 17.5 points per game during his last season at Duke.
