The Lakers haven’t been as successful as they thought they’d be in procuring big-name free agents to come to LaLa Land. And although there’s been speculation that the Purple & Gold’s fixture – Kobe Bryant – may be on of the reasons, according to Sporting News an unnamed agent confirmed that the future hall of famer has been a deterrent, but also gave hope that with the results of last night’s NBA lottery, things may be turning around.
“A lot of players around the league have not wanted to go to L.A. because they felt like they’d be going to watch Kobe shoot 50 times,” another agent said. “I think that is still the case. But maybe now they have some post-Kobe plans. I’d wait to see what they do, but they’re in a better position than they were last year, obviously.”
Will Julius Randall and the #2 pick in this years draft be enough to lure Rajon Rondo, Kevin Love, Marc Gasol, or Goran Dragic to LA? Only time will tell, but you better believe in the back of their minds they’ll know that until he retires, 50 shots and 50 misses a game or not, this will always be Kobe’s team until he retires.
