At Wednesday’s Fresno State vs. University of New Mexico college basketball game, a rude and raucous member of the audience yelled to Fresno St. coach Rodney Terry to take this “thugs” back to Fresno.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, the comment came with 9.8 seconds remaining in the game. Lead official Randy McCall asked UNM to have an employee go into the stands and sit next to the fan for the final seconds of the game.
“I’ve got a team where I think we do everything the right way, both on and off the court the right way,” Terry told the Journal after the game, a 78-73 Lobos victory. “We’ve got a class group. We do things the right way. … We don’t have thugs. I’ve got good guys in our program. We graduate guys. We don’t have thugs. I’m never going to let a guy say that.”
The fan was not asked to leave, and there is no plan to punish him.
