With Steven Caple Jr. at the helm, as lead writer and director, and Nas serving as Executive Producer, upcoming indie film “The Land,” chronicles the story of a young man named Cisco (Lendeborg), and his group of friends Junior (Moises Arias), Patty Cake (Rafi Gavron) and Boobie (Ezri Walker). Youths who are for the most part decent kids, despite stealing cars for extra money. It’s not until they find a stash of drugs hidden in one of the stolen cars that their lives begin to change as they turn into the neighborhood pushers who’s objective is to make money for a skateboarding tournament. Settling into their new life and relative kingpin status, day-to-day living becomes increasingly more dangerous when the dealer they’ve stolen from becomes aware of their new found status and makes the connection.
In addition to boasting a youthful, talented cast, veteran Michael K. Williams appears as Boobie’s hard-working father, Kim Coates as Cisco’s sleazy diner-proprietor uncle and singer Erykah Badu as a prostitute that frequents the diner.
‘The Land’ opens July 29th 2016 in theaters and VOD
