Defense attorneys for one of the four former Vanderbilt football players who have been charged with rape has filed a court motion to get the charges dismissed. One of the most controversial points in the motion is that then Head Coach James Franklin who is now at Penn State and former director of performance enhancement Dwight Galt, contacted the victim:
Referring to records, the attorneys said the victim was contacted by Franklin and Galt during a medical examination four days after the rape to explain “that they cared about her because she assisted them with recruiting.”
The motion goes on to say that Franklin organized a meeting with the victim and other recruiting girls. Brandon Vandenburg’s attorney also maintains that evidence has been withheld from him not allowing a proper defense of his client. James Franklin denied comment on the new allegations however, this is a problem for him. His involvement in this case continues to linger and he is going to have to deal with it sooner or later.
