Without a doubt, the most significant individual for Nike is Michael Jordan. After partnering with the company in 1984, he advanced the brand. Jordan’s devotion to Nike footwear followed him home.
When she was younger, Jasmine Jordan, Michael’s daughter, wasn’t much a fan of Nike footwear. When she was little, she yearned to wear Skechers footwear. But ‘His Airness’ only let her to wear them for a single day.
Jasmine on an Interview with andscape said “The funny thing is, as a kid, I was rocking a lot of Skechers, which was not OK in my father’s eyes,” “I used to beg him, ‘Please, let me get the light-up Skechers!’ Or the shoes with the wheels. He would let me wear them for a day, then the next day they would end up in the trash.” “It didn’t matter what pair they were. It didn’t matter who bought them. If they were in his house and they were on my feet, by the next day, they were in the trash.”
She used to beg Jordan for Skechers when she was younger, but as she got older, she became more sensible and switched to wearing her father’s trainers. “I definitely was in 1s a lot,” “And a silhouette I didn’t realize I wore a lot was the 5s. I really enjoyed 5s when I was younger and the colors we did in those. I still love my 5s. But before those, I was loving Skechers.”
Better safe than sorry, I suppose. As Jasmine became wiser in life, she fell in love with Jordan 1s and 5. Whatever the case, this tale is more than sufficient to demonstrate Michael Jordan’s devotion to his footwear company.
Initially, Michael Jordan was an Adidas fan
Since 1984, Michael Jordan has been linked to Nike. The Jordan Brand has aided him in becoming a billionaire throughout the years. However, the star player for the Bulls initially had no interest in joining with Nike. As revealed by Howard White he preferred to join Adidas according to andscape “MJ was an Adidas guy. He loved Adidas. He wore Converse in college, but he was an Adidas man. They gave him stuff, and he loved wearing it. So, he was going to a place [Nike] he didn’t even want to be,”
Jordan watched clips of his dunks and other highlights throughout Nike’s pitch. MJ kept a poker face though meanwhile the sales pitch was going on. Jordan’s mother ultimately persuaded him to sign on with the company.
With a 5% Nike royalty, Michael Jordan now makes almost three times as much money in a year as he did throughout his whole career. Michael Jordan has such tremendous impact that when someone hears Nike, they also hear him.
