A Kentucky woman, Ms. Shayna Hubers, was convicted of murder this week and sentenced to life imprisonment after she was found guilty of shooting her boyfriend, 29 year old Ryan Poston, in the face, neck and back six times in 2012.
27 year old Shayna Hubers was facing her second trial, as the guilty conviction and 40 year sentence for her first trial was thrown out in 2015, after it was discovered that one of the jurors was a convicted felon. It’s illegal for felons to serve as jurors according to Kentucky law.
Ms. Hubers called the police after the incident and admitted to killing Mr. Poston, claiming self-defense and that she ‘feared’ for her life during the incident.
Ms. Hubers was videotaped dancing and singing in the interrogation room about murdering her boyfriend by Kentucky investigators, and attempted to claim she was mentally ill as part of her defense during trial. She was recorded singing and tapping her fingers with a tune of:
‘I killed him, I killed him’ and ‘I did it. Yes I did it. I can’t believe I did that’.
Ultimately it was determined through testimony from the father of the deceased that he was murdered because Shayna Hubers was jealous that he was going on a date with Miss Ohio 2012, Audrey Bolte, that night.
