Greg Hardy is now a Dallas Cowboy, but there was a linger of whether the Panthers were going to give him a second chance. The silence of Richardson and his organization spoke louder than any words they could’ve said.
Panther teammates and fans alike advocated for the return of Greg Hardy, but Richardson has a low tolerance of allowing players with a criminal background. Since Rae Carruth, Richardson gave little room for mistakes. Richardson is now breaking his silence and letting the fans and players alike know, he doesn’t tolerate violence of any kind.
“Whose call would you think that would be?” Richardson told ESPN.com at the NFL owners meetings.
Asked why he made that call, Richardson said, “We do the right things.”
This is an excerpt of Richardson’s past words concerning domestic violence and the place it has in his organization:
“To those who would suggest that we’ve been too slow to act, I ask that you consider not to be too quick to judge. Over the course of our 20 years, we have worked extremely hard to build an organization of integrity … I will work hard to continue to earn your trust.”
Many wanted the return of Hardy to the Panthers, but Richardson is right. Its the ugly truth. Fans and players alike have to come to grips that he’s gone and will probably make the Cowboys a defensive threat, if not a Super Bowl Contender. What Panther fans should be happy with is that even without Hardy, the Panthers are still a top 10 defense.
