Gilchrist spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers after being a second-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2011. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team hadn’t announced the signing Thursday night. NFL Network first reported the agreement.
Gilchrist is the latest piece the Jets have added to their defensive backfield. Gilchrist has five career interceptions and joins Revis and Cromartie in the backfield. The deal is reportedly for four-years and should be officially announced tomorrow.
