The New York Post is reporting that Yankees manager Joe Girardi made a special request to the PA to not have Alex Rodriguez name mention during a pinch hit situation for the embattled third basement.
Sources confirmed that during game 3 of the ALDS Girardi had Raul Ibanez pinch hit for Rodriguez in the 9th inning. Moments before that switch was made, Girardi reportedly called up to the press box and instructed the announcer to refrain from saying Rodriguez name while announcing the switch.
Reports state that with Rodriguez struggling badly, Girardi wanted to cut him a break and spare him the embarrassment.
