According to TMZ, TDE king and queen Kendrick Lamar and SZA have filed legal documents in response to a lawsuit from British New York-based artist Lina Viktor alleging that they used her artwork in their All The Stars music video from the phenomenal Black Panther soundtrack. The documents credit “common sense” with why this lawsuit holds no merit because the “alleged 19 second use of the artwork in the video is not what generated the success of the song” and are asking a New York judge to dismiss the case entirely.
Lamar and SZA also allege that even if the artwork used in the 19-second scene did belong to Viktor, Black Panther: The Movie was successful enough to make the record a number 1 hit. The language throughout the documents continues to be filled with receipts including Kendrick and SZA’s collective “worldwide popularity as well as numerous accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize and dozens of Grammys.”
