Lonzo Ball came into the NBA with a ton of hype, thanks to Lavar “Jimmy Hart” Ball, but now after only a year in the league and a fairly solid rookie campaign the most we’re hearing about him is where the Lakers are trying to ship him in exchange for better players. Once the Lakers acquired LeBron James via free agency, Lonzo’s usefulness became greatly reduced as LeBron typically assumes a majority of the ball handling responsibilities on any team he’s on. And I don’t think the eldest Ball brother would function well as a spot up shooter with that funky release and 30% 3 pt percentage.
Ball’s name came up in a rumored deal to the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard and I’m sure his name will be tossed around and included in any package for any other star player the Lakers have interest in. With summer ’19 shaping up to be the wildest free agency period the NBA has ever seen, expect to hear Lonzo’s name thrown around a lot.
Lonzo takes it in stride saying “Anything can happen, especially in the off-season.”
Lavar responded in typical Lavar fashion. Flip the page to see what he had to say.
