Today, June 16, 2017, would have been Tupac Amaru Shakur’s 46th birthday had he lived to see it. It’s difficult to imagine how the world as a whole would be different had he survived to share his gift.
Instead Shakur’s time was limited to 25 years and in that time, though brief, he lived a lifetime’s worth of lows, highs and achievements all while imparting life lessons as he saw them.
Charged with the arduous task of picking and choosing what would best convey a complete picture of Shakur’s life, All Eyez on Me Director Benny Boom and Producer L.T. Hutton chat with BSO’s Jeandra LeBeauf to explain how they went about selecting which events in Pac’s life made the film, why they felt these specific chapters needed telling and how watching Demetrius Shipp Jr. transformation into the role was so complete, a picture of Pac was needed in the trailer to remind them what the real man looked like.
