It seems the Manny Ramirez experience in Taiwan has come to an end, to the dismay of the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
According to a story via ESPN, the former Major League Baseball slugger’s 3-month contract with the team has expired and Ramirez has no intention of renewing it due to apparent homesickness.
“We regret [Ramirez’s] decision to leave Taiwan, but we would also like to wish him all the best for what he has brought to us and to the prosperity for baseball in Taiwan,” the team said in its statement.
Ramirez hit .352 with 43 RBIs and eight home runs, placing him in the top three of all the major offensive statistical categories, according to the Taipei Times.
Apparently, Ramirez is attracting interest from Japanese teams, so that is probably where he will end up next.
