Floyd Mayweather seems to not be phased by the public criticism of his recent fights and the PPV buys/live gate figures may explain why he’s so nonchalant.
He’s still criticised for dodging Manny Pacquiao, dodging young talented fighters, and scheduling his mediocre fighters for his PPV undercard fights but the numbers don’t seem to be taking a hit for those choices. The early numbers are in for Mayweather-Maidana II and PPV buys are reported at 925,000. The live gate was just as impressive with a reported $15 Million.
The rematch may have been lacklustre compared to the first fight but it outsold Mayweather-Maidana I in all categories.
With results this positive Mayweather may never be pressured into fighting a meaningful fight and he can collect his $70 Mil+ a fight and ride off into the sunset.
