Most in boxing media have heard the rumblings for the last couple of weeks, because nothing stays a secret too long in boxing.
The backdoor negotiating between the networks, promoters, sponsors and trainers.
The blueprint was being laid out for Mayweather-Pacquiao 2, Pacquiao just had to look good against Jessie Vargas. They really wanted a knockout, but as long as it was a solid Pacquiao style performance the plans were going to move forward.
Mayweather doesn’t randomly show up at fights that he isn’t promoting or doesn’t include a fighter he is mentoring, so don’t believe the excuse he just decided to show up at Pacquiao’s fight for his daughter.
Pacquiao confirmed that he and Mayweather have been talking and he invited him to the fight, their relationship would be considered cordial at the moment.
One of the problems with Mayweather-Pacquiao 1 was communication, because many of the parties had either never spoken to each other, hadn’t spoken to each other in years or had beef with each other.
While everyone isn’t buddy-buddy now, things have thawed considerably especially when it comes to the relationship between Mayweather’s adviser Al Haymon, Bob Arum and HBO.
There are several people close to the situation who believe it is already a done deal. I wouldn’t go that far with it, but common sense tells that if either Pacquiao or Mayweather want to make the money they are used to, they have to fight each other.
Mayweather isn’t going to come out of retirement to fight any of these young hungry fighters for short money and Pacquiao who is use to $20+ million paydays was only paid $4 million to fight Vargas.
Considering the amount of money Pacquiao spends on his county and entourage that isn’t going to cut it.
Don’t expect any announcements anytime soon and Pacquiao I was told was warned not to call out or say anything negative about Mayweather post fight, but the train is rolling towards Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 whether we like it or not.
