One would think that Floyd Mayweather has a plan for when he stops fighting. Because you can’t fight forever and when you are living a $50 million a year lifestyle and you aren’t making $100 million a year anymore that can be a problem.
The best way to keep the money flowing in his pocket is via his promotional company, but for whatever the reason even though they have had plenty of time to do it, they have never secured boxing licenses to promote fights.
They have outsource for the most part to Golden Boy Promotions because of Floyd’s relationship with Richard Schaefer. But, Schaefer has resigned and Oscar De La Hoya is now running the show. Floyd said he wouldn’t work with Oscar, but because they were so ill prepared when Schaefer quit they had no choice but to let Golden Boy promote Mayweather vs. Maidana 2.
It appears now they are at least making progress to be able to run shows on their own now. No idea how successful they will be, but it is a step in the right direction.
