Some ideas are bad from the jump, but you realize at the very last second and save yourself the embarrassment. Other ideas are just bad all together, and you don’t realize until its too late (like putting a “z” at the end of a team name to make it plural).
Luckily for the Orem Owlz (a Minor League affiliate of the Angels), they caught at least one ill-conceived idea before actually following through with it.
Minor League Baseball, and the Orem Owlz, is about baseball, togetherness and family fun for all fans of all races, religions, and orientations. Our goal in this promotion, like any of our promotions, is to have fun and make fun of everyday normalcies. Our night was to include wonder bread on burgers with mayonnaise, clips from shows like Friends and Seinfeld and trying to solve the vertical leaping challenge. We understand, in light of recent tragic events, that our intentions have been misconstrued. For that, we sincerely apologize.
Being that its 2015 and Americans are sick and tired of Caucasian-Celebration everyday of every year, this idea was terrible even before our Nation’s most recent tragedy.
Lets just be thankful that someone within the organization was smart enough to catch this before allowing it to proceed. Otherwise, we would have had an entire stadium of people looking as if they’re completely ignorant to current events.
