It’s a shame that things like this are still happening in 2016. After The Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church was set on fire, it was later tagged with the words that say, “Vote Trump.”
What’s wrong with our country, is the only question that pops up in my head after reading stories like this. Even our places of worship aren’t respected anymore. And to top it off, you read a message, “Vote Trump,” on the church that was set on fire. The disrespect is far too real. With election day just a few days away now, it’s pretty clear that certain parts of this country side with the psychotic ideas that Trump possesses.
According to WDAM reports, Greenville authorities responded to a call about a church burning Tuesday night sometime after 11 p.m. The Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, located in the 600 block of North Delesseps Street, was set ablaze around 9:15 pm according to a statement from Greenville Fire Chief Ruben Brown, who said there are no reported injuries from the fire. Most of the damage occurred in the main sanctuary, but officials discovered that the church had also been vandalized with the words “Vote Trump” spray painted on the side of the building. ATF and State Fire Marshals were at the scene Tuesday night however other outside agencies were expected to join the investigation today.
The Mayor and fire chief are expected to hold a press conference down to speak on the travesty that hit this community.
