Dwight Howard is the Orlando Magic’s all-time leader in a plethora of important categories. Leading the franchise in points, rebounds, blocks and minutes played, Dwight’s impact on the floor was unmatched by any other Magic player in the team’s history.
But as we all know, Dwight burned quite a few bridges with the Magic organization. His handling of his contract situation and want to be to be a free agent, left the organization tired of his actions and happy to be able to move on into a new era.
So perhaps this is why, per USA Today Sports, the franchise has completely removed itself from the Dwight past. After acquiring Tobias Harris in a trade, the team gave him Dwight Howard’s old number 12 jersey.
You may not think this is a huge deal but for the number of your franchise’s all-time leader in numerous significant categories to be given away so easily, it really highlights the fact that the break-up between Dwight and the Magic got ugly.
Guess he can forget about his number being retired.
