This almost seems like a given.
In a survey conducted by ESPN’s NFL Confidential, more than 320 anonymous players voted Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson as the player they’d most like to see in the Super Bowl, who’s never been there yet.
Peterson took 18% of the ballot with 59 votes, followed closely by Tony Gonzalez, 88 players received at least one vote. Adrian Peterson spoke about his peers vote,
“That’s pretty cool,” Peterson said. “It feels good. I guess guys are able to see the passion that I play with, the desire I play with, and they respect it enough to make that type of statement..It says a lot, and it means a lot.”
The closest he’s reached the Super Bowl was the 2009 season where the Vikings went into New Orleans for the NFC Championship game, and he botched a hand off by Favre which led to a fumble on the Saints 4-yard line. Vikings lost in overtime.
This season marked the 4 one in which Peterson and his Vikings failed to even make playoffs.
