Rachel Uchitel has been through a lot in her lifetime. The former mistress of Tiger Woods made headlines as the woman that started the decline of Tiger Woods’ personal and professional life but Uchitel suffered tragedy before becoming his mistress.
Rachel was engaged in September 2001 to James Andrew O’Grady, an investment banker in New York City. James entered the World Trade Center on the fateful morning of September 11, 2001 and never made it home that day. According to the New York Post, Uchitel feels that O’Grady’s death was meant to be. Rachel states.
“I believe Andy was meant to die because he was too good. I’m almost happy it ended the way it did because I’ve learned so many lessons from him. It would have been tragic if we got into fights and then divorced.”
I’ll attribute the underlying insensitivity and stupidity of that statement to Rachel not knowing how to talk about a man that she loved 10 years ago who suffered a tragic death.
Undoubtedly, Rachel’s life would have been very different today had it not been for the tragic occurrences on September 11, 2001. After O’Grady’s death, Rachel reportedly went on to make $500,000 a year as a VIP hostess at Tao Las Vegas and at New York’s The Griffin(are they hiring?!?!?). It was at the Griffin that she met Tiger Woods and the rest is history, at least where Tiger Woods’ marriage and successful golf career are concerned.
Uchitel told Page Six, “I would be a fat housewife with three kids in Sands Point, LI” referring to what her life would be like if O’Grady had not died in the Twin Towers attack. Uchitel is currently planning on moving to San Francisco with her fiancé, Matt Hahn.
Uchitel contributed to the collapse of Tiger Woods world and some dislike her for that. We all know that it takes two to tango. With that said, it’s good to see people move past personal tragedy in an effort to find happiness. Now if we can get that same karma to apply to Tiger and his golf game. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
