Randy Gregory cost himself millions of dollars during the draft process, because he decided to smoke away future rather than stay focused on being the best player that he could. Staying away from the green is going to be one of Gregory’s most important jobs aside from rushing the passer on Sundays, but he insists that he does not have a weed problem.
Gregory states that he definitely immature and stubborn, but he does not think he has a problem with marijuana.
“That’s something I’ve definitely been working on and something I can definitely fix,” Gregory said. “I’m 22 years old but I think I carry myself real well and I think I need to carry myself a little bit better as far as decision making goes. I think a lot of people are getting tied up in the weed and think it’s just a weed problem. I don’t think it’s a weed problem. I think it’s decision making. I think I’m immature. I’m definitely working on that. I want to prove everyone wrong and I want to do it with this team. I think this is the best team I can do that with.”
Gregory, who failed a drug test at the scouting combine in February, was then asked specifically about recent marijuana use.
“I haven’t touched it,” he said. “I’m feeling real good, too. This is a high in itself, to be honest. I’m high on life right now, and I don’t want to lose this high.”
“One of the main things I learned,” he later added, “is that this could be gone in a minute.”
For his sake and his career, I hope Gregory gets his mind right and goes on to have a very successful career because I hate seeing guys piss away a great opportunity. Gregory has all the talent in the world to be one of the better pass rushers in the NFL if he puts his mind to it; he just has to stay out of his own way.
