Rashad Jennings threw Eli Manning under the bus by telling the media that Eli told him not to score on 1st and 2nd down on the Giants last possession against the Cowboys.
There seem to be some miscommunication about how many timeouts the Cowboys actually had. If the Cowboys only had one timeout like the Giants thought, the plan would have made more sense, but since they had two timeouts it really didn’t. In the end, because of all the confusion, the Giants left plenty of time on the clock for the Cowboys to score, which they did.
Jennings decided to spill the beans and made his quarterback and coach look incompetent, so today he issued an apology.
“First of all, let me say that I want to apologize from my heart for the negative light that I unintentionally cast my quarterback and friend Eli Manning in. I continue to have the utmost respect for him, and I have complete trust in his leadership. It is a strange and unwelcome feeling I have that after all these years as a professional football player, I finally get to experience the other side of how words can be misconstrued.”
His words wasn’t misconstrued at all, he was on record saying what he said, so don’t try to blame the media because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut.
